Public Lecture with the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Head of Unhas PPK Task Force Leads Discussion on “Creating an Inclusive and Violence-Free Campus” at Hasanuddin University

Hasanuddin University, Makassar (May 24, 2025) – As part of its commitment to strengthening the protection of women and fostering an inclusive, violence-free campus environment, Hasanuddin University held a public lecture themed “Creating an Inclusive and Violence-Free Campus: Gender-Responsive Women’s Protection Policies” on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The public lecture featured the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia, Dra. Hj. Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, M.Si., as the keynote speaker. The event took place in the Senate Hall of the Hasanuddin University Rectorate Building and was attended by university leaders, academic community members, and representatives from various partner institutions.

The event was officially opened by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., who, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and the government in creating a safe, fair, and inclusive campus ecosystem. The event continued with a discussion session led by the Head of the Unhas Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence (Satgas PPK), Prof. Dr. Farida Patittingi, S.H., M.Hum.

In her presentation, the Minister of PPPA highlighted the importance of gender-responsive women’s protection policies as a key instrument in building safe spaces within higher education. She also stressed that campuses should take the lead in upholding the values of equality, non-discrimination, and protection for all campus members from all forms of violence.

This public lecture is part of Hasanuddin University’s efforts to implement the mandate of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 55 of 2024, particularly in building a strong, sustainable, and human rights-based protection system. The event also served as a momentum to strengthen the role of the university as a safe space that supports intellectual development while embracing diversity and gender equality.
